Helpful information about using this website and arranging online Portuguese and English lessons with Olga Santos.

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. About this website

This website presents online Portuguese and English teaching services offered by Olga Santos, based in Porto, Portugal. You can contact Olga at olga@olgasantos.pt or by phone at +351 931 940 948.

These terms explain general website use and how enquiries for lessons and packages are handled. They do not replace the specific information and agreed terms provided to you before you book or pay for a teaching service.

2. Services and teaching format

Lessons are provided exclusively online; no in-person lessons are offered through this website. Available learning formats may include individual lessons, small-group sessions, language exam preparation, and Portuguese cultural or linguistic integration. The Packages page describes available categories, but the precise content, availability, duration and suitability of any arrangement must be confirmed with Olga.

Students are responsible for having a suitable device, internet access and, where relevant, the agreed video-conferencing software. Any specific technical requirements will be communicated before lessons begin.

3. Enquiries do not create a booking

Sending the contact form, writing an email, or selecting a package is an enquiry only. It does not reserve a class, create a contract, or require payment. Olga will contact you to discuss your goals and confirm whether an appropriate arrangement is available.

A teaching arrangement is made only when the relevant details have been agreed and confirmed directly, including lesson format, timing, duration, price, payment terms and any applicable rescheduling or cancellation policy.

4. Prices, payments and invoices

This website does not currently accept online payments or publish fixed package prices. Any fees, taxes where applicable, payment method and payment deadlines will be explained before an agreement is concluded. You are not obliged to purchase anything by sending an enquiry.

Invoices or other legally required payment documents will be provided in accordance with applicable Portuguese rules.

5. Scheduling, lateness and missed lessons

Lesson dates and times are arranged directly with Olga. Availability, the procedure for requesting a change, any notice periods, and how missed or delayed lessons are handled should be explained and agreed before a booking is confirmed.

If Olga must reschedule a confirmed lesson, a suitable alternative will be discussed. Nothing in these terms removes any refund or other rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

6. Packages and group learning

Package names such as Personal, Family & Friends, Business, Partners and Communities describe possible teaching arrangements; they do not, by themselves, guarantee a particular number of sessions, price, timetable or outcome. Any package-specific features will be confirmed before purchase.

Group learning depends on suitable availability and class arrangements. The composition and size of any group will be communicated before agreement.

7. Teaching for minors

Where lessons involve minors, enquiries and arrangements should be made by a parent or legal guardian, who must approve participation and provide the necessary contact and supervision arrangements. Please do not submit children's identity documents, health details or other sensitive data through the public enquiry form.

8. Exams, certification, residency and citizenship

Exam preparation and language tuition are educational services. Olga cannot guarantee examination results, language certification, acceptance by a public authority, residency or citizenship. Official exam requirements, accepted certificates, minimum teaching hours and administrative rules are determined by the competent examination bodies or authorities and may change.

Students should independently confirm current official requirements relevant to their circumstances. Classes for residency or citizenship purposes are subject to any applicable minimum hours or other legal requirements.

9. Right of withdrawal and refunds

When a consumer concludes an eligible distance contract for paid services, Portuguese consumer law generally provides a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date the service contract is concluded, without giving a reason, subject to statutory conditions and exceptions.

If a consumer expressly requests that services begin during the withdrawal period, the consequences—including any proportionate amount payable for services already provided—must be explained in advance. Where services have been fully performed following the legally required express consent and acknowledgement, the right of withdrawal may be lost under the applicable law.

To ask about cancellation or exercise any applicable statutory withdrawal right, contact olga@olgasantos.pt by an unambiguous statement. Any specific contractual cancellation or refund conditions will be shared before the arrangement is confirmed. Nothing here limits mandatory legal rights. For more details, see Decree-Law No. 24/2014.

10. Learning materials and website content

Unless agreed otherwise, original lesson materials supplied by Olga are intended for the enrolled student's personal learning. They should not be redistributed, sold, publicly published or recorded for distribution without permission. You may not copy website text, images or other protected material for commercial reuse without the relevant rights or authorisation.

11. Website availability and external services

Reasonable efforts are made to keep this website accurate and available, but occasional errors, maintenance or interruptions can occur. External websites and services, including WhatsApp and any video-conferencing provider agreed for lessons, have their own terms and privacy arrangements.

Personal data submitted through the contact form is handled as described in the Privacy Notice.

12. Questions, complaints and disputes

If you have a question or complaint about the website or a teaching arrangement, contact olga@olgasantos.pt so it can be reviewed.

Where applicable, consumers may also use Portugal's consumer complaints and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Information about consumer complaints is available from the Direção-Geral do Consumidor. Any legally required information about the applicable consumer dispute resolution body and complaints book will be provided as required for the business.

13. Applicable law and consumer protection

These terms are informed by Portuguese law. Nothing in them excludes protections that cannot legally be waived, including any mandatory consumer rights that apply in your country of habitual residence. Any dispute will be handled according to the applicable rules on competent courts and consumer dispute resolution.

14. Changes and contact

The content of this website and these general terms may be updated. A change to the website does not retroactively change an existing teaching agreement without a lawful basis and any required agreement. The date above indicates the latest version of this page.
